Missy Titus DesignerTalk: “Lessons of a Lone Designer”

Speaker: Missy Titus, Designer, PayPal

In her peak, Missy Titus was a 1st Place Science Fair champion, with a 6-year winning streak. Now, over a decade later, she is currently (and very recently) designing products for humans at PayPal, which she came to by way of acquisition. Before that, she worked for a year and a half as lead and only member of the design team at StackMob, a start-up with far fewer people (and a much smaller audience) than PayPal. In her free time, Missy writes about design and women in technology, drinks non-artisan coffee, and, especially, loves to sleep. She loves to learn about human behavior and the illogical way their brains make decisions. And although she is not (yet) a robot, she’s excited about when the machines eventually take over and the rest of what the future brings. Follow her tweets @MissyTitus.

Nina Mehta Designer CoderTalk: “Getting Design Prioritized: Love and War in Agile”

Speaker: Nina Mehta, Product Designer

Nina Mehta is a Product Designer in the agile trenches at Pivotal Labs. She formerly worked at Twilio, RockMelt and consulted with several startups in Tokyo, New York and locally. She has a Master’s in HCI and a past life in news journalism. Bit by bit, she’s made room for user-centered design practices in engineering cultures. Follow her smart and silly tweets @ninamehta.

Alice Lee Product DesignerTalk: “Start”

Speaker: Alice Lee, Product Designer, Dropbox

Alice Lee is a letterer, illustrator, and product designer at Dropbox, who recently graduated from Penn as part of the class of 2013. She spent the bulk of her undergrad education ditching her business classes and experimenting and learning on her own and from others, including interning at Microsoft, Foursquare, and Path. Up until two years ago (Fall 2011), She was completely non-technical and the extent of her design knowledge was how to use the text tool in Photoshop to cobble together t-shirts and flyers for the university’s marketing club. Her personal mantra is to just always keep learning and pushing yourself – if you don’t know how to do something, just ask for help and figure it out. Follow her on Twitter @byalicelee.

Zhen Zeng DesignerTalk: “Lessons Learned from Stories to Pixels”

Speaker: Zhen Zeng, Experience Designer, Airbnb

Zhen Zeng is an experience designer at Airbnb, where she is currently wearing the hat of an Android designer. Prior to that, Zhen worked at IDEO on a range of projects that span across industries from Consumer Electronics to Health and Wellness to Financial Services. Follow her on Twitter @sillyzhen.
