About the Hitachi Girl Geeks – Bios

Sara Gardner (Chief Technology Officer, Hitachi Insight Group)Sara Gardner
Sara is Chief Technology Officer for Hitachi Insight Group (IoT) based in Santa Clara CA. She collaborates with engineering, research, strategy and business teams across the Hitachi group of companies to help drive Internet of Things business and technology strategy. She is passionate about data of all shapes and sizes and the undoubtedly transformative impact of the Internet of Things. Sara’s Tech career spans 30 years working primarily in data management and analytics. Her expertise includes IoT, Analytics, Video Analytics, Machine Learning and AI, Big Data, DBMS and Data Warehousing. Prior to HDS she held Product Management, Strategy and Product Marketing leadership positions at Oracle, HP and Ingres. She grew up in the UK and was always passionate about Math and Computers at High School, programming at home in Basic on a Sinclair ZX80. This led to an Engineering Apprenticeship in Defense Engineering in the early 1980s combined with a Computer Science Degree in a class where men outnumbered women 50:1. Renée McKaskle (Chief Information Officer, Hitachi Data Systems)Renée McKaskle
Renée is responsible for developing and implementing information technology initiatives that align with the Hitachi Data Systems mission. She supervises the information systems and communications network of the company and directs the planning, implementation and continuous improvement of technology solutions in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and mission development. Before coming to Hitachi Data Systems, Renée was chief information officer and vice president, business process and technology, at SC Johnson & Sons. Prior to that she served as chief information officer and vice president, IT governance services, at Symantec Corporation. She also held senior IT leadership roles at Oracle and PeopleSoft. Renée holds a bachelor's degree in economics from UCLA, and a master's degree in information systems from the University of Texas. She is a strong advocate of STEM programs and careers for girls and women to give them the confidence to do what inspires them.

Rich Rogers (SVP, IoT Products and Technologies, Hitachi Insight Group)Rich Rogers
Rich oversees global Product Management, Engineering & Technology Alliances for the Hitachi Insight Group. Earlier, he served as the company’s senior vice president, of engineering for emerging and high growth offerings such as converged infrastructure, object storage, mobile applications and SaaS offerings. A seasoned veteran with the company, Rich joined Hitachi in 2006 via the acquisition of digital archiving startup Archivas. Over the years he has established a solid record for building global teams and efficiently delivering compelling high-quality offerings. He has built and led world class teams in Boston, Seattle, the Bay Area and Japan. Rich holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer & Information Science from the University of Maryland. Rich also served as an active duty US Marine. And, he has completed executive development programs at the MIT Sloan School of Management and Tuck School of Business.

Mary Ann Gallo (VP and Chief Communications Officer, Hitachi Data Systems, Hitachi Insight Group)Mary Ann Gallo
Mary Ann leads the global organization responsible for driving the Hitachi brand through compelling storytelling. As vice president and Chief Communications Officer, Mary Ann is responsible for the company’s brand and creative services, global public relations, investor relations, industry analyst relations, social media, executive and internal communications, global events and customer advocacy groups. Prior to joining Hitachi in 2009, Gallo led Global Communications for virtualization leader, VMware. Prior to VMware, Mary Ann was vice president and group head of the Enterprise Software and Security Group at Edelman, the world’s largest independent public relations agency. Her clients at Edelman Silicon Valley included TIBCO, Symantec, iPass and start-ups in the security space. Mary Ann’s 20-plus years in marketing and journalism fields have also included several senior marketing roles at technology startups like Luminous Networks, an optical networking company and Resonate, a software performance management company. Mary Ann began her professional career as a radio and television broadcast reporter and leverages those storytelling skills today. Mary Ann was a reporter/anchor for the CNN-radio affiliate, KLIV in Silicon Valley and was an on-air television reporter for CBS-affiliate, KBIM-TV in New Mexico. Mary Ann holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from San Jose State University. She has also completed executive leadership programs at the Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth, IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland and the WOMEN Unlimited LEAD program. Gallo is an avid proponent of diversity issues and founded the Women of Hitachi program. She also serves on the Board of Advisors for an athletic dance fitness program featured at gyms and fitness centers around the world, U-Jam Fitness.

Deboshree Dutta (Product Manager, Hitachi Insight Group)Deb Dutta
Deb is a product manager for Hitachi’s Public Safety & Smart City IoT portfolio. Deb grew up in India and came to Carnegie Mellon to do her Masters in Computer Science in 2007. She began her career at Microsoft as a software engineer and has over the years evolved into a lead Product Manager at Hitachi. Deb owns the product lifecycle and GTM strategy for all of Public Safety & Smart City IoT software portfolio including product roadmap, product design, pricing, licensing, sales enablement while supporting all other functions such as presales, professional services & support. Deb also evangelizes products internally to interested parties within Hitachi as well as externally to customers and partners. Deb also runs a popular Fashion and Lifestyle blog with over 17,500 followers on Instagram where she partners with well-known fashion brands and local boutiques on a daily basis to showcase their newest collections to her globally diverse audience. One more interesting fact – she has performed with Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas in 2012. When not working on IoT or on her blog, Deb performs at open mics across the Bay area, does home-DIY projects and is a long distance runner.
